03 DADA MANIFESTOHAND-BOUND BOOK
ROLE:GRAPHIC DESIGNER
CLIENT:PERSONAL PROJECT
This project explores the reinvention of Tristan Tzara‘s original DADA Manifesto. Born out of an era of rebellion, chaos, randomness, and irrationality, the book explores what being an artist truly means. The artists of this movement were deeply anti-establishment and saw art as a tool for political and social critique. One of the most iconic peice was entitled Fountain and displayed only a toilet bringing forth the question: Can anything be art if an artist chooses it as such?”.
This handbound book reflects the haphazardness of the time. The specific tone of pin used, Bakermiller Pink, has been observed to temporarily reduce hostile, violent or aggressive behavior, contrasts the violence that was ensuing during the time of WWI, when DADA made at its peek.
